SBC ADVERTISING CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY BY GIVING BACK

Dozens of Local Charities Benefit from PayIt40ward Challenge

Columbus, OH (September 25, 2009) –To celebrate SBC Advertising's 40th year in business, the agency initiated a "Pay It 40ward" challenge to its employees, encouraging them to perform 40 acts of kindness in 40 days as a way of thanking the community for 40 years of support.

The Pay It 40ward challenge kicked off on Aug. 10 with its first act of kindness: an agency breakfast cooked by SBC partners, David Dennis, Neil Widerschein and Matt Wilson. During the kickoff breakfast, employees rallied together, pledging to give back to the community for the next 40 days through acts of kindness.

"We literally had thousands of options to choose from: both client and personal charities and events, as well as Mayor Coleman's list of programs and volunteer opportunities that need attention after the latest round of budget cuts," said Wilson. "We are part of the city beyond our building across from Huntington Park; SBC's 40 days of 40 acts of kindness launched at the perfect time."

Employees and the community followed the progress of the challenge through SBC's PayIt40ward microsite and Facebook page. Employees entered and tracked their acts of kindness on the microsite, logging in over 500 acts during the 40 days. The acts of kindness included everything from volunteering at a local charity to doing something helpful for a friend, neighbor or co-worker.

Some of the PayIt40ward highlights included:

Individually, employees supported dozens of additional local organizations including Holy Family Soup Kitchen, Ohio Race for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity, Capital Area Humane Society, Junior League, Goodwill, Pelotonia Bike Tour for Cancer Research, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Autism Speaks Walk, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Dave Thomas Foundation, Kidney Foundation, Make a Wish, Haul for Heroes, Meals on Wheels and the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio.

The Pay It 40ward challenge concluded on Sept. 18 with an agency picnic to celebrate SBC's talented staff and recognize their acts of kindness. Earning the "Most Grand Act" were the seven SBC employees who rode in the Pelotonia Bike Tour for Cancer Research and rose over $7,000 benefitting The James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University.
